Grape Varieties

100% Sangiovese

CHASING EVERY LAST DROP OF GOODNESS

Class from top to toe. When wine from our finest quality Sangiovese grapes leaves the vat, a fragrant pomace remains. From this pomace, we distil an elegant grappa riserva, satisfying to end any meal on a high note, a delicious digestive cue.

VINEYARD, CELLAR, DISTILLERY

The journey from vineyard to distillery passes through the wine cellar. Here, after the vinification of the Sangiovese grapes that come from our Sopratorre and Pozzo vineyards, whose grapes are regularly in the best years of our Grand Selezione, what remains in the vats is an intensely aromatic, fruity, floral pomace. The very day that the vats are emptied of wine, this pomace is taken to the distillery, in order to preserve all its freshness and fragrance.

TASTING NOTES

The Grappa Riserva Tenuta Casenuove appears in the glass characterized by transparency and crystalline brilliance, enriched by a soft amber hue, inextricably and uniquely linked to aging in oak barrels. On olfactory examination, it is characterized by a remarkable aromatic intensity, without any hint of angularity or excess alcohol. Bringing the nose to the edge of the glass, we can clearly distinguish scents intimately linked to fermented fruit, red flowers, a boisé note, which delicately emerges and integrates into the sweet bouquet of notes of cocoa and spices, caramel and vanilla, and a dry finish of dried tobacco, all with a very fresh and pomace.

The sip is fresh, clean, pure, and extremely crisp. We immediately rediscover the sensations promised on the nose: the sweetness of vanilla and the delicacy of the fruit. The aftertaste offers much more, a complexity revealed and enhanced by the warmth of the sip, spicy, decidedly pleasant, satisfying, and rich in facets and volume. The proper use of an important wood that has aged at least two seasons of the estate’s wines, carefully chosen from the best pieces of the cellar’s wood park, ensures the overall balance of this distillate, distinguished by the excellent balance of all its aromatic components that invite you to return to a second delicious glass.
