Grape Varieties
60% Merlot, 40% Sangiovese
In the Vineyard

Growing mostly on the rocky clay schist known as galestro, the well-
drained and well-ventilated vines face south and south-west. The
Merlot grapes are generally harvested around mid-September while
the Sangiovese component ripens as much as a month later. All
harvesting is done by hand, and the grapes go through a tripartite
manual selection process: first in the vineyard, and twice more in the
cellar before they are lowered gently into the vats.

Tasting Notes

With a bouquet of black and red fruits that gradually reveals spices,
mocha and mineral notes and an intense ruby-red colour, this is a wine
of great intensity and complexity. In the mouth, perfectly ripe fine
tannins and a velvety texture build to a fresh finish of great persistence.

Awards

The wines of Tenuta Casenuove have garnered a series of international
plaudits and awards.
